Christmas in Atlanta: Christmas Lights Shows from Private Homes in Atlanta 2011

Christmas Lights Display In Atlanta

As we put up our Christmas trees and get our pictures with Santa done in the mall, many families in Atlanta area are busy putting up their Christmas lights decoration. However, a selected few houses are busy all year round preparing for their Christmas Lights display worth driving by. These houses do not have typical Christmas lights that we have. Their displays are extravagant (comparable to many great Atlanta Holiday Lights shows from many attractions) and synchronized to the music so it’s a great Christmas show in itself.

Many houses with Christmas Light shows also accept donation for their chosen charities. It’s a great way to spend holiday time with your family without breaking the bank. It’s one of our family favorite holiday activity!

This year, I have updated the list with as  much information I can find. Some of the houses from last year are no longer putting up the light and we also have a couple new houses. So here it’s the 2011 guide to Homes with Christmas Lights to Synchronized Music in Atlanta.

Christmas in Atlanta With Kids: Holiday Outdoor Ice Skating Rinks in Atlanta

Atlanta With Kids: Outdoor Ice Skating Rinks

Brrrr.. It has been cold in Atlanta this December. I am debating whether I want to do this post but eventually I think it’s even more appropriate to have a round up post on where you can have fun ice skating during this Christmas and Holiday Season in Atlanta.

It’s so cold that I feel like we have been cheated for not having a snow day. But an outdoor ice skating ring might be a great alternative.

Admittedly, there are not that many choices when it comes to Outdoor Ice Skating rinks around Atlanta.

Here is our list of Outdoor Ice Skating Rink around Atlanta for this Holiday Season

1. Ice Skating Rink @ Centennial Olympic Park

Celebrate your family holiday tradition in Atlanta with Centennial Olympic Park Outdoor Ice Skating Rink where kids will enjoy ice skating with theatrical lighting on the real ice and holiday music.

Place: The Centennial Olympic Park, 265 Park Avenue West , Atlanta, GA
Date: Everyday until January 30, 2011
Time: Hours varies. See calendar for detail.
Cost: Admission – $7 per person, 90 Mins Skate rental – $2 (CASH Only). Lockers are available for $1

2. Park Tavern’s Ice Skating Rink on Piedmont Park

Check out new holiday attraction at Piedmont Park that I’m sure will be one of Atlanta’s family favorite for years to come. The Holiday outdoor ice skating rink is setup at the Tavern with modern amenities: for day & night skating, a heated tent, piped-in music with a mega sound system, and rink-side dining. See the review from Field Trips with Sue as she checked out this new playground in town.

Place: The Rink at Park Tavern, Piedmont Park
Date: Everyday until February 15, 2011
Time: Check website for available sessions.
Cost: $10 for a 3 hour session, $5 skates (Parking at The Tavern is $3 or $5).

3. Olde Town Conyers Ice Skating

The Have an Ice Day production returns to Olde Town Conyers for a family fun outdoor ice skating at Conyers.

Date: Wed-Sun until February 27, 2011
Time: Hours varies. See calendar for detail & free skating day.
Cost: $7 Skate fee & $2 Skate rental

4. Astor Holiday Ice Skating Rink @ St. Regis

Most expensive of all the rinks on this list is Astor Holiday Ice Skating Rink at St. Regis Hotel in Buckhead. But with smaller rink at just 30 ice skater per  hour, it will give the more intimate fun and less crowd for unexperienced kids. Field Trips With Sue has a great review along with the video tour.

Place: Astor Holiday Ice Skating Rink, St. Regis Hotel, Buckhead
Date: Every day until January 3, 2011
Time: Mon-Fri: 12pm-9pm; Sat-Sun: 11am-9pm
Cost: $30 per hour for adults and $18 per hour for children under 16
