3 Ways to Enjoy Spring in Covington/Conyers Area

Spring is here even though the mother nature doesn’t seem to make it so. Lucky for us to have local parent in the know to share their favorite spring activities. Our post today is contributed by Kita Byant, our Atlanta Parent Squad.

Spring in Covington

It’s spring I know it does not feel quite like it yet but its here. Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. The flowers are blooming, we see pastel colors for Easter, and there are many places that will be opening up just in time for warm weather. Below I will highlight a few of them in Conyers/Covington area for you to check out.

Spring Activities in Covington/Conyers Area

Get Wet at Browns Mill Aquatic Center

Everyone loves the water when it starts getting hot. If you don’t want to make that drive to white water park then you can go to the water park in Dekalb County called Browns Mill Aquatic Center.

This fun water park is not only close to Conyers and Covington but it is reasonable.

Some tips they don’t allow food inside the park unless there is a party or reserved section. Go as soon as they open they are usually packed after 2 and it can get crowded. I would go in the weekday on a Tuesday or Wednesday. There are lifeguards on duty and there is a part for the little ones to splish splash also. For more information click here.

Get Entertained at Covington Annual Downtown Spring Fling

If you love the outdoors and eating then in on April 25th from 6-9 you can enjoy some good food and music as Covington has its annual downtown spring fling. Different restaurants gather with food for you to taste and have a great time getting to know your community.

Parking is tricky so come early. Information for the Spring Fling can be found at their website here.

Get Active at Turner Lake Park

When you want something cost effective the playground is a must. Newton County GA has many beautiful parks but one of the favorites is Turner Lake Park. This is a gem in Covington with walking trails, a playground for kids, and best of all a big fishing lake for you to fish from. This beautiful park is also a wonderful place for the photographer in you that’s bursting to get out. They have so many bridges and trails for you to get that perfect picture. Parking is plentiful and it’s a great way to get in some exercise on a cool summer evening. For more information click here.

Strawberry Picking in Atlanta and North Georgia

Strawberry Picking in Atlanta

Looking for where to take your kids for a strawberry picking in Atlanta metro area?

You are at the right place. We have updated our popular guide to strawberry picking in Atlanta metro for you.  Strawberry picking in Georgia season usually runs from Mid April till June (depends on weather of that year).

So I have done some digging and found several pick-your-own Strawberries farms around Atlanta. There are probably more that are not in the list. I pick farms that are within one hour drive from Atlanta. If you live in the suburb, your driving time might be less or more depends on where you live.

Since strawberry farms operate with the mercy of the mother nature, it’s highly recommend that you contact the farm on the day you plan to head there to confirm the availability of the strawberries. Also if you plan to go there during the weekend, it’s also recommended to call ahead to see if they have any strawberries left that day.
